Proper Rescue Guidelines
The primary function of the rescue portion is to create a safe rescue environment by effectively searching. Effective searching involves using search methodology and constantly sizing-up. Effective rescue incorporates persistance. Check for individual voids, move objects out of the way, and use proper lifting procedures to remove victims. Also when seeking rescue, use search markings to indicate what was searched and when it was searched.
Individual Voids:
●Spaces where victims may seek protection
-Bathtubs
-Underneath desks
-Inside cabinets
-Under/next to beds
-Inside closets
Structural Voids:
Pancake Voids- Many things have collapsed and created spaces where victims may be
Lean-to Void- one wall has fallen on another and created one space victims may be
V Void- two things have collapsed and created two spaces in which victims may be trapped
